LARA conducts testing on the 3rd Saturday of each month, except for December. December testing is conducted on the 2nd Saturday. All testing begins promptly at 8 AM.

if you do not have an FRN from the FCC, you will be directed to register for one during the registration process. Make certain that the information you use to register for your exam session matches your FRN account. Contact Dave Templeton, n4ng@icloud.com, if you need help or have additional questions.

Anyone passing their exam may take the next element without any additional fee if time is available. Anyone not passing their exam may retake the exam for an additional fee if there is time available.

What to Bring:

  1. A legal photo ID (driver’s license, passport)
  2. If no photo ID is available, two forms of identification
    a. Non-photo ID/Driver’s License (some states still have them)
    b. Birth Certificate (must have the appropriate seal)
    c. Social Security Card
    d. Library Card
    e. Utility Bill, Bank Statement or other business correspondence that specifically names the person; or a postmarked envelope addressed to the person at his or her current mailing address as it appears on the Form 605.
  3. Students/minors may bring any of the above items and/or a school ID, minor’s work permit, report card, or a legal guardian may present a photo ID.
  4. An FCC issued Federal Registration Number (FRN) is required by anyone wishing to take the Technician exam.
